Our stay at Casa Vale was just as we thought it would be. Just a little bit better. Werner's helpfulness in picking us up from the train station and bringing us back was simply uncomplicated. The house was also tippi toppi in order. Not to mention all the spices, coffee, tea and honey was a fine start to our holiday. See you again. 👍 Beautiful location equipped with everything we needed to feel like home. 👎 Didn't dislike anything. (10 of 10 points for Casa Pelu on Booking.com) |

👍 Located in the countryside, trips to the surrounding area are possible. By car to the center of Sibiu it is only 30 minutes, or 25 km. 👎 What we did not consider was that in the photos of the apartment all the lamps were lit, giving a bright, friendly impression. In fact, the apartment is rather gloomy, we placed the table in front of the only bright window. (8 of 10 points for Casa Zollo II on Booking.com) Our answer: We regret that we were unable to meet your expectations. The apartment has three large windows and a glazed entrance door, and so far no guest has described it as gloomy. The facilities and location with its large terrace, panoramic views and extensive orchards have also been consistently praised and, with one exception, have always received 10 points. We strive to meet as many requirements as possible. |

If you want to get to know Romania/Transylvania not far from Sibiu and Transalpina, this is an ideal starting point. In a top furnished and clean vacation apartment. The friendly and helpful team tries to fulfill every wish. Thank you for a wonderful time. (★★★★★ for Casa Zollo II on Google) |

We spent a lovely week at Casa Lopo. It is an ideal place for people who want to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city. The house itself and the yard are very carefully prepared and equipped. Delicious meals are available if someone is willing. The place is pet-friendly so you can take dogs with you, our dogs really liked the yard. With a car from Vale you can quickly get to many interesting places, Transalpina and the Transfagarasan route are nearby. It is good to take a stick for hiking. There are many stray dogs, they are not hostile but a stick is a sign for them that they should not approach. We did not come across any bears, apparently the best way to avoid bears is simply to behave loudly or to have a bell attached to your backpack. Before hiking, it is best to ask the locals which trails are safe. A wonderful place in a beautiful and interesting area. Worth visiting. (★★★★★ for Casa Lopo on Google) Our comment: I'm glad you enjoyed it. However, there is a misunderstanding about the dogs: although some of them run around freely, they are not strays. Each has an owner and belongs to a yard, while the dogs in the mountain meadows are guarding the sheep. There are also no particularly unsafe hiking trails. We will provide you with the best map for hikes in the surrounding area. The original in polish: Spędziliśmy w Casa Lopo przemiły tydzień. Wspaniałe miejsce w pięknej i ciekawej okolicy. Warto odwiedzić. |

We spent a wonderful week's vacation as a couple at Casa Lopo. The house and courtyard have been decorated with great attention to detail and are in top condition. If we (two working mothers) hadn't been determined to cook absolutely nothing except tea on vacation, we would have found everything we needed in the kitchen. Instead, we enjoyed the wonderful service of being cooked for by Adriana. The pick-up from the airport, the rental car and the uncomplicated support from the landlord completed the all-round successful overall package. In the surrounding area there is more to see than we managed in a week, whether in terms of natural beauty or cultural history, so I can only advise everyone to bring enough time with them. All in all, highly recommended! (★★★★★ for Casa Lopo on Google |

Casa Lopo in Vale is a little corner of paradise. The house has been lovingly and carefully renovated, it is beautiful and cozy and is equipped with everything you need to live. The house and garden have been designed with taste and a love of preserving the historical heritage. Vale, like most villages in the region, is very original and the landscape is lovely. Landlord Werner K. is very hospitable and always takes care of everything immediately in a very helpful and discreet manner. When asked, he is happy to tell us about the country and its people, which we really enjoyed. We highly recommend Casa Lopo. (★★★★★ for Casa Lopo on HomeAway / VRBO) |

Great accommodation in the heart of Transylvania. We felt very comfortable from day one. The house was lovingly restored and prepared by Werner and his team. There is attention to detail everywhere in the apartment and nothing is missing in terms of furnishings. The garden is a dream, and here too you can find the same love in designing it as the house itself. Grilling marshmallows with the children at the open fireplace in the evening and looking at the wonderful sunset, amazing. In the morning, open the door, go out onto the balcony and simply listen to the sounds of the birds is the best medicine for the usual everyday stress. Also particularly worth mentioning are the cooking skills of Adriana, who provided us with excellent Romanian delicacies. In general, everyone gave us a really nice welcome and looked after us throughout our stay. We can only warmly recommend this accommodation and if there was a 6 🌟 we would give it. Great stay in a remote location. Our week at Casa Nicu was just what we had hoped for. This is a slightly rustic unit but is clean and has everything you need. Some of their other units are more modern but don’t have some of the character this one does. Werner was excellent at communicating all along and was waiting at our arrival. If we needed anything someone was there in minutes but they never intruded. My one suggestion was a couple of comfortable chairs to sit in for the evening and a few minutes later we had a couple of loungers that made it much more comfortable. If you’re looking for a 5 star hotel experience keep looking but if you like quiet rustic check this out. (★★★★★ for Casa Nicu on VRBO/HomeAway & Google) |

👍 Pleasant and quiet location. The accommodation itself is very good quality and well equipped. We did not miss anything. There are plenty of places to explore nearby for nature lovers, but also history and architecture. We will definitely come back to Transylvania. 👎 The last 50 meters of the road to the accommodation is not paved. In freezing and dry weather this is not a problem, This one can be when it rains. At the exit from this road to the main road the visibility is poor, you need to be careful. (★★★★★ for Casa Zollo on Booking.com). Original: 👍 Příjemná a klidná lokalita. Samotné ubytování velmi kvalitní a dobře vybavené. |

We stayed at Casa Crina at the end of September and felt very comfortable with five couples. We also had the small neighboring building and could have easily taken another couple with us.The house is very pleasantly designed and the kitchen is spacious. Even in bad weather, it's a great place to stay and light the fireplace. The house is technically well equipped and we were even surprised by the fast internet connection (100 MBit). We were served a very good breakfast (made to order) in the morning and were also able to get good homemade regional dishes in the evening. We felt well looked after by the host and especially enjoyed having breakfast on the terrace in the morning. In the evenings we sat around the barbecue or a few meters away by a fire pit. The house and garden were well looked after and we also enjoyed the home-made schnapps in the evening. The meals we ordered were - at the end of the 7 days - surprisingly cheap. The nature in the surrounding area and of course in the Carpathians is very pristine and appears almost unspoiled in parts. It's fun to watch the animals and go for long walks. Of course, Sibiu is well worth seeing and we were very impressed by the church castles and other excursion destinations. We had a very nice time there! We enjoyed every moment at Casa Pelu. The house was clean, organized and spacious, and the energy welcoming. We had everything we needed and even a gift of honey made by the locals. As for the warmth, everything went perfectly. The room heat was set from the thermostat and the hot water was plentiful, no problems. The top terrace where you can see the hill with the church conquered us! It's the perfect place for dinner/breakfast, it's the first to get sunlight and the last where we enjoyed the sunshine. The garden was lovely and full of life, as were the surroundings. Relaxation in full swing for both us and our puppy. The recommendations in the house manual were very helpful. They directed us to go to the local market, to the clean water source and even to some nice places in the area (in nature). Werner was available for any questions, communicative, a welcoming host. What can be said of perfection. From picking us up from Sibiu, airport to showing us our lodgings for two weeks, the services and professionalism that Nicu and Crina provided was nothing short of spectacular. 100/100 I highly recommend staying in Saliste/Vale Romania. It is a hidden gem and truly a unique place in the Romanian countryside.. The quality of the air b&b’s are unbelievable, from the simple touches down to the craftsmanship that was put in over years of love and dedication to the properties. Recommending this place to all of my friends and family. Can’t wait for our next trip back in the near future. (Relating to a stay at Casa Zollo 2) |

Casa Lopo is clean, quiet and the perfect place to take in Vale while being centrally located to key attractions. My wife and I stayed a few days in the cottage while we traveled around Romania to our bucket list sites. Don't pass ordering the food services available. Portions are large, delivered hot and fresh, and not expensive. Adriana (the cook) provided the best meals we ate while in Romania. Far better than the some of the top-rated restaurants in Bucharest, Deva and Turda. Definitely recommend the sausage w/braised cabbage and potato salad. If you partake in alcoholic beverages, be sure to order the local blueberry schnapps from Nicu. It was outstanding! All utilities worked impeccably (internet/wi-fi, electricity, gas/hot water). We would definitely stay at Casa Lopo again if in Romania. (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor & Google) |

Perfect holiday! Lovely rural location for visiting the beautiful city of Sibiu and the surrounding villages. The host will meet you at the airport which is a lovely welcome. The accommodation is well equipped, the kitchen has a wonderful selection of herbs and spices! We had an amazing time in Vale and the property was perfect. Everyone in the village was very friendly, Nicu was always a true gentleman, the food was wonderful and the surrounding area was more beautiful than we could have imagined. We genuinely don't have any suggestions. We were pleased with every aspect of our stay and felt we had independence in the property as well as assistance available whenever we required it. Thank you very much for allowing us to stay at the property. I hope we left the house in good condition. If we return to the area we would definitely choose Casa Vale as our first choice option as a place to stay! All the best, Morgan. (a guest of Casa Lopo) |

We really liked the cottage, the way it was renovated, with care for old and comfort. The courtyard, back garden and the terrace were perfect to sped a lot of outdoor time. There were all the necessary kitchen items, appliances, spices and other supplies (oil, sugar, tea etc.). The internet connection worked just fine, my husband could work couple of days over here. We communicated good with the very kind host, helpful and open for suggestions. The accommodation is close to Sibiu and other nice villages such as Sibiel, Fantanele, Gura Raului etc.InVale are also many paths to follow and see the village from top of the hill. Like other beautiful villages in Romania, Vale could have won a lot if the authentic style had been preserved. I highly recommend this cottage for those who seek authentic experience (even complete one - optional services available, meals, fresh products from village etc) close to nature and outdoor activities. Me and my family (3 sisters, our mum and our partners) spent one week in this beautiful serene place. The living room is spacious and cozy, an open space which includes the kitchen, so we could be together even if we were doing different things. Some were preparing food, others were making the fire in the fire place, others were playing games or having conversations. The terrace was also one of our favourite spots, as we could easily eat together outside. The little garden is nicely arranged, during the day it was perfect for sunbathing constantly having bird chirping soundtrack. The hosts are just wonderful. They helped us with everything we asked for and the communication was smooth and pleasant. I could notice in every detail their wholeheartedly involvement. Thank you, Werner and Nicu and everyone else, for such a memorable experience! (★★★★★ for Casa Zollo on Google) |

Had a lovely stay at Casa Nicu located in the quaint village of Vale. It is a super cozy 2 room stay with a nice court yard, perfect for not just going out everyday but also spending a day inside drinking wine & reading with the wood stove roaring. The AirBnB was clean on our arrival & amenities as promised. More than enough kitchen utensils & spices than you could realistically want in an AirBnB. Communication with Werner was great and prepared us for nearby area and Vale itself. During the stay itself we were in closer contact with Nicu who was very responsive in answering any questions we had. At Casa Nicu you also have the option of booking/buying a few amenities such as renting a car, buying local produce, breakfast/lunch/dinner (vegetarian friendly) made by Adriana whom lives in Vale. I would very highly recommend trying the food & produce! If you have a drivers license would highly recommend renting a car since by public transport and/or taxi it is hard to get around. We knew this and thus it was no problem for us. Transylvania in general is beautiful with an seemingly infinite amount of hiking trails make use of it! All in all I'd easily recommend staying here! Casa Crina was a wonderful surprise as we have spent here the Christmas holiday. The house is exceptionally clean and equiped, the feeling was that the owner has done everything as he tried to fit his needs and this is rare but wonderful. The kitchen is fitted with absolutely everything, high quality and the living room is large and cosy. The highlight for us was of course the fireplace. The whole place is spotless, the beds are comfy and what we really appreciated was the quality of everything inside. I am sure this house was designed with a lot of dedication. The owner and the administrator are very kind and patient, they even helped us with delivering local products which was great!! This plaxe is for sure a location that deserves 5 stars! |

We had a lovely time at Casa Vale. The house is incredibly cozy, they kept the original materials during restoration so there's a lot of wood, brick and stone that give the house a very warm feeling. The kitchen was very well prepared and had all the utensils and condiments that you could possibly need and the light in the kitchen coming from the ceiling window was very warm and made the house feel like home. The bed was very comfortable. The front yard is fully fenced and very private, we really liked that. We enjoyed spending time on the porch, having coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. We asked lady Adriana if she can make us some food, she brought it over at the established time and it was all very delicious, I haven't had a tomato salad that tastes that good in years. The products from the village were also very good, especially the cheese. The internet worked very well, we could have comfortably worked from there if we wanted to. The drive to Sibiu was easy, about 20 minutes away, we went there during the International Theater Festival which is a great time to visit Sibiu and we also visited the Astra Museum which I definitely recommend. We definitely want to stay here again. (★★★★★ for Casa Lopo on Airbnb) |

Lovely villa, great location, absolutely spotless. 👍 This was a fantastic find in Romania. Not only was the quality of the house high above many of the mountain lodges and pension's we've experienced before, the cleanliness was outstanding. We spent a wonderful holiday with the children at Casa Zollo 2. We liked everything, the studio, the garden full of fruits and flowers. Mr. Nicu and Mrs. Adriana (very good food) were extremely nice. Beyond the garden is a hill where I picked herbs and ate blackberries. We will gladly return to this dream place! (★★★★★ review on Google) |

A little village house, nicely restored, with excellent hosts open to suggestions and always ready to solve any request one may have. Highly recommended for a holiday away from the city yet close enough from Sibiu - 30 minutes by car - and even closer to Săliște where one can shop for local produce. Will visit again next year. You have to see it to believe it. It’s more than we imagined. The house is immaculate. It’s been so beautifully renovated. Each room is different and perfect. It has all the modern conveniences you need but still manages to retain the historic and rustic charm of the area and România. The house lacks nothing!!! Everything you need in your house Casa Pelu has, Everything!! It’s in close proximity to Sibiu and the Transalpina. The Transfagarasan is only just over an hour away. Werner is the owner and he will reply to any questions via email within an hour!! You can tell he his proud of this property (and rightly so). Nicu is the lovely man who meets you at the house and shows you around. He’s also a gentleman and proud of the property and his job. Nicu was fantastic and so helpful. We loved him. We absolutely loved our stay in Vale and Casa Pelu. The house is ever so pretty. We absolutely loved it. |

The villa is superb located in the small village of Vale, at just 3-4 km from the A1 highway - Saliste interchange. The yard is small, but just enough for a water balloon fight! The table outside is perfect, we used it all the times, because the weather was also friendly. The large living room is very good for sitting and playing board games, which the house already has, in case you forget to bring some. The upstairs rooms are large enough, each having its own bathroom. Wood is everywhere, giving the sensation of warmth, traditional carpets and decorations are really getting the guests into a story-like landscape. We are definitely coming back, Crina! The villa was perfect for our group and what we wanted: privacy and enough space for all of us and Casa Crina did just that. We found pretty much everything we wanted in the house (kitchen wise) and amenities and there were enough places in the village for additional shopping. There is no oven though but a portable one can be made available if needed. It was clean, cozy and surrounded by nature. The host, Werner, was very polite, prompt in his replies and also provided us with extra options for our stay: e.g. horse and carriage rides, cycling, locally grown food etc. Nicu, who helped with check-in and check-out was very open to suggestions and helpful throughout our stay. I do recommend this place! (★★★★★ on Airbnb.com) |

Beautiful location, more then we expected. We traveled with 6 kids and we found a place that is cozy, clean and very well equipped. We stayed for one week and I can not think of something we missed. A traditional looking house with everything we needed for our 5 nights stay during the cold month of January. Only issue we had was lack of wifi. Translation: We have been in Casa Nicu in Vale for almost 2 weeks. Werner, siempre dispuesto a solucionar cualquier duda o necesidad. ¡Un placer! Translation: Vale is worth it. We were 5 days in August 2019 and it was a magnificent experience. The three of us (2 adults, 1 kid/10 yr) greatly enjoyed our vacation and we were taken care of from the time of booking until the end of our vacation by its owner. The house its beautifully located on a hillside with a stunning view, has a grill (underneath a roof in case of rain) and fireplace in the large garden, two balconies, a very well furnished kitchen with lots of supplies, 2 bath rooms (in summary 2 showers, a bath tub, washing machine, emergency kit in case of little accidents, ...) and 3 cosy bedrooms. It is conveniently close to the next village with supermarkets and a market place as well as the highway, which led us to the many sights in the area of Transylvania. We can warmly recommend this wonderful place. (★★★★★ for Casa Zollo on Tripadvisor and Google) |

Superb house with all necessary accessories of high quality. Appreciated the rural feel of the house while keeping the high quality of the materials. The garden was great and provided a place that had shade from the trees most of the day as well as a place which was exposed to the sun all day. Loved the view and access to the beautiful hills around. Great for off-road biking trips. The service was excellent and if needed they provide extra services - such as home cooked food which we found delicious! (★★★★★ for Casa Crina on Google.com) |

Perfect relaxing retreat near Sibiu Located at a very convenient 20 minutes drive from Sibiu towards Deva (actually 20 minutes drive from Sibiu center and supermarkets) and roughly 4 hours drive from Bucharest, the location for this Villa is understated, to say the least. Cleverly placed on the side of a hill, the Villa Zollo and its huge back yard has a commanding view over an entire valley. The view itself will keep you gazing for hours and has made for a remarkable morning coffee companion. The Villa's positioned far from the busy roads, so in a very quiet area, but yet fully accessible by car with a big parking space inside the yard. In the yard there's a wonderful setup of benches, very comfortable, but 20 meters in the backyard there's a marvelous setup chairs and table made from trunks of wood that has a great view of the valley. What a lovely place for morning coffee! We arrived on the 1st of February, in a team of 5 and were lucky for great weather, so we spend plenty of time outside to fill our lungs with oxygen. Inside the villa, there's every need accounted for: comfortable beds, 2 baths and a lovely dining/living area with an amazing looking and working fireplace (this was probably one of the 2 highlights of our stay there). Surprisingly, we found a big fridge with a large freezer box, dishwasher, and a laundry machine (the former we didn't need to use). However, we did use the oven and microwave oven set at our disposal. The house was thoroughly clean and aired when we arrived. Our host, mr. Nicu, was really nice, he gave us a great tour and even allowed us to keep the LED installation they had set up in one of the backyard trees. The Owner, mr. Werner, was incredibly responsive over phone or email. The reservation and the entire conversation was comfortably run over email. I do recommend the villa for 2 small families searching for a quiet, comfortable retreat or for a group of friends looking to run away from any busy city for a couple of days. The 3 bedrooms and the 4 beds have more than enough space for small groups. It was one of the most relaxing stays i can remember. We'll be sure to return soon. (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor.com) |

This place was superb! My family and I would definitely love to stay there again if we get to go back to this beautiful country. It is very cozy and clean. All 4 bedrooms come with their own bathrooms. It's not far from one of the most stunning cities in Romania, Sibiu. The host was very helpful and the place itself looks even a lot better than the pictures in our opinion. We stayed there for 5 nights and we had such a great family reunion in this gorgeous villa during the New Year. There's nothing we can complain about, thanks for having us! Wonderful house, great scenery. We have just returned from our Christmas and New Year holiday, at Casa Zollo. Even though we are regular customers of Sibiel Village and we thought there can be nothing like our usual hosts in these surroundings, we found a wonderful house in Vale, and decided to give it a try. Mr. Werner, the host, is a true professional in hospitality and really made good on all his promises. So was Mr. Nicu, the local help, that made sure our stay was as good as possible. There are several things about this house that make it a wonderful holiday destination: the house is cozy and hidden from the traffic, fully equipped and clean and the garden in very well taken care of. We had a wonderful time there and we are looking forward to come back again. We are just glad to find such great hideaways in Romania! (★★★★ on Airbnb.com and Tripadvisor.com) |

I stayed at Villa Zollo with my family for five nights. When I e-mailed Werner, I got a quick response every time, he was very helpful and answered all my questions very patiently. The access to the house was fairly easy and Nicu met us there and showed us around. He came to help us with a few little things during our stay and he also met us when we left, even though it was at 4am. The villa is beautiful, well maintained and extremely clean, we really loved it and the beautiful location. It had almost everything we needed also in the kitchen and also other small things around the house, like slippers, towels, soap and more. I would definitely recommend a stay at this villa if you are traveling to Romania. (★★★★★ on Airbnb.com and Tripadvisor.com) |

Comfortable flat, great landscape. We had a great week in Romania - thanks to Werner and the whole crew. They all really care. The studio offers all comfort you need travelling alone or as a couple. A beautiful garden with fantastic view is perfect for relaxing evenings after days you can do a lot - from hiking in idyllic landscape to daytrips to some of the amazing cities or sightseeings of Romania - rental car commended, which is quite affordable. For the two of us seasoned travellers this was a great find. Set in the village of Vale at the foot of the mountain, this cosy and compact property was home for us for one and a half weeks. On arrival we were shown around the property straight away and even shown around the adjoining village so we knew where to shop and exchange currency. Vale is a delightful small village with friendly residents. Transylvania is a delight to explore. The mountains are fantastic and the surrounding towns are lovely to visit. We stayed at the apartment Zollo II in April this year (sorry Werner to be so slow with this!). We came to go walking in the mountains and were not disappointed - stunning alpine scenery after steep climbs up through Beech woods. Lovely garden at the apartment, in which I saw Hawfinch, Black Redstart, Wryneck and Scops Owl. If you are a birder, a Spring visit here will be worthwhile. Werner is an excellent host, picked us up at the airport and took us back, and his team in the village are helpful. One suggestion would be to have some chairs with backs in the apartment, stools tiring after a while, but otherwise we had everything we needed. Idyllic getaway in the Romania hills We travelled with a group of us on the late flight from Luton to Sibiu. The team picked us up at the airport despite it being 3 in the morning. The villa was in super condition throughout. Every morning we had fresh food delivered to the balcony (the tomatoes were out of this world!) and everyone genuinely relaxed over the long weekend. One of the best things to do in the area is mountain biking, we set off from Cristian but there are other companies that can deliver to the villa too. Sibiu itself is a city ideal for romantic strolls. The only downside is that it's so quiet in the village you can hear every dog bark (though with double glazing it's easy to shut them out too so we hardly noticed). Would love to return one day. Clean, High Quality and Professional. We stayed in Casa Crina for 2 weeks. The owners were very polite and helpful and the place was top quality. Casa Crina is located in a quiet part of the mountains and the view was very nice. We were travelling with two young babies, and were a little nervous, but the house was very clean and almost baby-proof. The owners even prepared a crib for us to make things easier. You can request groceries be delivered prior to arrival and they also provide food upon request (which was delicious). The drive into downtown Sibiu was about 30min. An exceptional cottage in an exceptional village. We had an absolutely amazing time at the Casa Lopo in Vale. The cottage itself has been really sensitively restored and is intimate and warm and a million miles away from the identikit hotels of modern tourism. Few places left in Europe can evoke anything of its peasant past like the village of Vale with its cacophony of gnarled and weathered buildings nestled under the giant forest. A surreal, timeless and beautiful place. We came in the depths of winter and it snowed... turning the village into something from a fairytale. Truly magical! (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor.co.uk) |

My husband and I stayed in the studio apartment Casa Zollo II in August 2017 and loved it! It happened to be extremely hot at that time of year, but the studio stayed relatively cool with the help of orchard trees and trellises. This is a small place that is so smartly designed; everything has it's place and there is plenty of room to store your things. We never felt crowded in here, plus we had the outdoor space (patio and picnic table) to enjoy the cooler night air. The host and staff were helpful and easy to communicate with. We loved this place so much that we started daydreaming about coming back in different times of the year to enjoy it again! Highly recommend this spot. |

Lovely Cottage Casa Zollo, we really enjoyed our stay here. The owners were very helpful. We arrived later in the evening but that was not a problem. We were greeted with wine, beer and homemade cheese! The place is very well appointed and Spotless. We found the location to be a good one for the trip we had planned. The little village is quiet and the countryside it is located on is lovely. The grounds are beautifully taken care of. There is a nice common area that we utilized a few times for outside games in the evening. The area for cars is secure as are the entire grounds. We did one of the horse drawn cart excursions which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our host was a lovely man and we really enjoyed visiting with him and his young adorable son. The washing machine is the nicest and easiest to operate we have ever had in Europe. Lighting and water pressure, as well as outlets were top notch. This place was really large for just the two of us but we wanted the covered outdoor space to ourselves that this offered. And that space was nice on a few of the rainy days we had. This would be wonderful for families or friends traveling together, bedrooms were very spacious. A huge, huge storm rolled through and the power went out. We waited a few hours and then called Nicu. He was there right away, letting us know that it was an electrical problem most of the village was experiencing. There were candles and we used those once it began to get dark. The power was restored shortly there after and there were no problems because of the outage. We highly, highly recommend this place. Nice location, very clean, great owners, what more can one ask? |

We: two People and one little dog were the second time in Vale and first time in Casa Nicu. It is the perfect place for a relaxing week in the Carpathians. The lovingly restored, perfectly equipped and very clean old cottage is a cozy home on time. From here you can go in all directions hikes and do excursions. In the warm October light we walked through the beautiful colors of the autumnal Carpathian mountainsides. We visited historical churche castles or the lively cultural capital of Europe Sibiu and after long eventful days was time to relax by the crackling fire of the tiled stove. From the booking to the arrival in the already pre-heated accommodation until the farewell, the owner team cared for us very well. Thank you very much Werner and Nicu. We'll come back again... We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Zollo. The place is so lovely, very well appointed and Spotlessly Clean! The grounds are very well taken care of and peaceful to sit in and enjoy. We loved the covered area outside and had our board games out there several times. The owners could not be more helpful. We honestly cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay here was. We did the horse drawn cart ride into the hills with a homemade (by Nicu) shore lunch. Awesome! We found the area very easy to navigate with plenty of restaurants nearby when we wanted. The place itself is very well stocked with dishes/etc. for self catering. We were greeted with a bottle of wine, beer and homemade cheese! It was a marvelous finish to our vacation in Romania. Excellent self catering in idyllic Transylvanian location. Fantastic house about 20 kms from Sibiu. Casa Zollo is superbly appointed by Werner, the German owner (speaks good English) and his friendly local assistants. Everything is beautifully designed, with plush bathrooms, an excellent kitchen and dining area, two balconies with great views, a lovely covered outdoor dining area in the delightful large garden with fruit trees and nice planting. High quality self catering of this type is almost impossible to find in Romania, so this is perfect for those who want a break from eating out every night and/or living out of a hotel room. Great for a family too, and there is an entirely separate downstairs apartment which could be combined for two families. Casa Zollo is a great base for touring this part of Transylvania - the city of Sibiu, including the superb ASTRA outdoor folklore museum just outside Sibiu, fabulous "Saxon" fortified churches at Calnic, Cisnadie, Biertan etc, the Transalpina highway and much more. The nearby village of Saliste (about 2 km) has several shops, a small supermarket, daily market stalls and a super little outdoor pizza place. Sibiu is about 20 minutes away if you want the full hypermarket range. We loved the house, the garden, and the whole area - highly recommended! (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor.co.uk) |

"What is man, if full of care, he has no time to stand and stare" The cabin Cozo Fantu, 1000m up, sits in an old orchard, overlooking soft valleys and deciduous forest. The world here is quiet, so quiet that the individual sounds of birds, passing livestock and dogs each register. Jays, screeched, and buzzards mewled. We enjoyed gazing at birds, spotting butterflies, watching wildlife. There is so much beauty. There are also many different walks along dusty tracks, passing through both deciduous and conferous forests and crossing beautiful meadows. Shepherds, actively guarding their flocks, pass the cabin and are passed as you walk. Other visitors, the local farm dogs, delighted us. The cabin itself is comfy, and the dark at night reveals a starry sky. We enjoyed cooking our supper on an open fire. Best of all however, was fresh ewes' milk and cheese from our neighboring shepherds. The water, collected from a local spring was pure and refreshing. It is a different life to our city based existences which revolve around work and e communication, but we felt so good for the break. (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor.co.uk) |

I booked this place for the purpose of having a tranquail week and get the kids off the internet. I got both goals answered here at this shepherds hut Cozo Fantu. The hosts care about their business and go out of their way to get you to the hut and back down, so that I could get the train back to Bucharest on the day my family were leaving. Our days on the mountain were easy. We had to get our own water from the spring, make our own fires, make our own hot water and cook our own dinners. The best part of the days was lying on the grass under ancient apple trees, to shelter us from the hot sun. It was nice being lazy and hear the kestrels crying in the sky, hearing the sheep heard bells ring close by. I felt quiet sad when we left this place. I will be coming back here again with the kids. My daughter, three friends and I stayed at Villa Zollo for a week (July 2017). It should have been for longer ! The house is all modern facilities, set in a stunning beautiful location. What a treat for lovers of traditional farming and the birds, butterflies and wild flowers that go with that. Werner, Nicu and Adriana looked after us as though we were family, friendly, helpful and always cheerful. I wholeheartedly recommend a stay at Villa Zollo, for us it was the holiday of a lifetime. |

We stayed with nine people - kids and adults of three generations - at Casa Zollo and studio Zollo II during one week in late June 2017, and we absolutely enjoyed it. Werner was a very accomodating host, he picked us up from the airport and explained everything around the apartment. The place is excellently equipped, all was functionally designed, with love for details, and very clean. The little village VALE is very well located for sightseeing, going out in the nature, hiking, swimming, trips to Sibiu etc. We used the reliable VW Passat wagon offered by our landlord to get around. A highlight of the stay was a half day tour with horse cart in the woods, arranged by the holiday apartment's caretaker, a friendly Romanian guy called Nicu, including super delicious romanian picnic at a wild creek. We certainly want to come back to this amazing place! (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor.com) |

Perfect holiday rental Casa Zollo has been perfectly designed as a holiday rental from which to explore the Carpathians. Spacious, comfortable with all you need to self cater. Also a fantastic BBQ area in the garden. The back up staff provided us with any local foodstuffs we needed and the local town of Saliste is charming. (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor.com) |

Great stay in this traditional cozy cottage. The place was very cozy, warm and tidy. A spectacular old tile stove was warming the place. Very nice indeed. A very nice place for a stay of a few days in this nice carpatian village. Will be returning with friends to enjoy spring or summer. (★★★★★ for Casa Nicu on Tripadvisor.com) |

This is a quaint, cozy cottage perfectly sized for two. We celebrated our anniversary with a trip to Romania and Casa Vale is the perfect base. Whether interested in culture, handicrafts, rural living, history or hiking everything is within reach. Even in the middle of winter we found plenty to see and enjoy, from inexpensive local food to quaint villages and bustling, though charming, cities (Sibiu, even Sighisoara is within reach). Casa Nicu is a home away from home, perfect for two people. It has a cozy atmosphere and creates an immediate cultural and traditional experience. Even in the middle of winter the cottage was warm and we had the chance to cut our own wood and light a fire in the evenings if we chose. The availability of local farm products and other experiences is a great bonus and puts Casa Vale miles ahead of many other choices. We had Nicu's homemade schnapps and wine, which were both delicious, as well as sheep's cheese and fresh milk. The kitchen is well-stocked and the washing machine is reliable, but beware: there is no microwave or oven, so be prepared to make do with a gas hob! We enjoyed every moment of our time in Vale, whether using it as a base to explore the surrounding area, or simply retreating from the world for a quiet day in the village. |

Beautiful house in rural village and very friendly, helpful hosts. This is such a beautiful house - gorgeous wooden furniture and flooring, and very well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. We really enjoyed the fire pit in the garden and eating outside. We also ordered some food in from one of the women in the village - it was great to try out local recipes. We also enjoyed the goats' cheese and local rustic wine. The beautiful, quiet village of Saliste is a couple of kilometres away and Sibiu, the bigger - also very beautiful - town is an easy drive. Definitely recommended. (★★★★★ for Casa Zollo on Tripadvisor.com for a stay in July) |

Vale was, to be brief, all that we hoped for and more. A small village nestled below pastures and forests, it was quiet and delightfully scenic. The house is lovely, although be prepared for multi-levels and the need to take an outside staircase to each level. It was a quite lovely stay and I will indeed be recommending this home to my friends. (★★★★★ for Casa Pelu on Homeaway.com) |

Piece of heaven! In a heavenly landscape, but close enough to the city (only 20km from Sibiu), Villa Crina> is the perfect place to stay if you want to relax in front of the fireplace or if you want to check out the surroundings. Transalpina, Sibiu, Cindrel Mountains, you will have no time to get bored. The villa had everything one can think of, from fully equipped kitchen, to a magnificent fireplace, grill, large rooms. The host made sure that we had everything we needed. I highly recommend it and we will be back for sure. (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor.com) |

Perfect Romanian cottage Two couples shared this perfectly appointed Romanian cottage for 4 nights in September. The rooms were spotless! Each bedroom had windows with beautiful views, ours had the balcony with table and 2 chairs. We used the fireplace on the main floor to take the chill out, it worked perfectly and added ambience as well. The kitchen was so well equipped, we even used the French press for coffee. There is a great pizza place in town, 5 minute drive, well worth it. They have wine also...We drove to the next town for groceries and wine, a much larger market. I would recommend ordering a few staples to be waiting for you upon arrival. One evening we had the neighbor bring us a traditional Romanian meal...excellent and very inexpensive. I highly recommend this rental, Nicu was also very helpful! (★★★★★ for Villa Zollo on Tripadvisor.com) |

Beautiful place - perfectly managed! Sadly we could only stay for one short night at Zollo II, but it was beautiful. A great flat with a great porch right in front of it and a most awesome view across the plains. Perfect interior, everything spotlessly clean and “thought about” and with a very warm welcome from the hosts. That’s just what a holiday home should be like! I will surely come back – and then stay longer! Thanks a lot! Corinna (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor.com) |

Great place ! We stayed in Casa Nicu for a week - and had a great time. The apartment is perfect for 2 people and there's real attention to detail which we were constantly struck by - condiments, washing detergent etc. It's a great base for the Transalpina which we drove a couple of times as well as lots of other villages, lakes etc. We ate food cooked by a local lady for a couple of dinners which were delicious hearty Romanian food. Werner was a great host with lots of tips - he was really helpful when I was planning the trip and then when we were there. It's worth noting that the table outside is for the priority use of Casa Nicu but because it's the only place to sit, it's likely that you will be sharing it with your neighbours. Highly recommended - which we have been to friends. (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor.com) |

We had a great stay at Villa Zollo in April 2016. We traveled as a family with 2 adults, 3 kids and one grandma. The house was perfect, rustic, well furnished, very clean with beautiful views over the hills in a peaceful location. A big garden with blooming trees in spring was a real bonus. Not too far from Sibiu (30 min driving). Nicu and his wife were great and met us at the house and made sure we felt welcome. Werner was very good at communicating with us by e-mail. We strongly recommend Villa Zollo to anybody who would like to explore the area around Sibiu in central Romania. There is a highway connecting Sibiu with Deva and Hunedoara which makes it easy to explore this area by car. (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor.com) |

We absolutely loved Casa Pelu and loved the village of Vale. It’s as good as it looks. While the house has all modern comforts, it has been renovated with great sensitivity and love for the tradition and style of the area, and respect for the environment. So its cosy, - lots of wood, a beautiful tiled stove, skylights and a little terrace overlooking the cobbled yard, and the little village street - which has a stream running down it. The village is beautiful, - peaceful and unspoilt, and with a strong, present sense of the traditional life of rural Transylvania. It stands at the foot of the beautiful green folds of the Cindrel mountains. Nicu, who cares for the properties and their guests, and who has been very involved in their renovation, went out of his way to help us, and ensure that we had an excellent time. Which we did. No complaints at all, though it may be worth noting that the internet connection around there is a little erratic. We intend to return - it’s a wonderful, peaceful place. (★★★★★ on Airbnb.com and Tripadvisor.com) Thanks Dorry, you and your compañeras were wonderful guests. I think every lessor dreams of such tenants, always accurate, modest and reliable. You're always welcome whenever it pulls you back to Transylvania - then with good working Internet connection. You had bad luck with the thunderstorms, but now we installed a new Wi-Fi router and solved the problem. |

In the beautiful Vale at the foot of the Carpathians, we had a relaxing time in the comfortable Casa Crina. Nicu had the fire already burning when we arrived and we felt right at ease. The cottage is beautiful and with two couples we had the choice of four beautiful bedrooms all with private shower and toilet, beautiful. We also have them delivered once a local meal, chicken that was very well prepared and tasted great. In the autumn with the beautiful colors it was wonderful to came to rest here. Thanks for the good care. |

We loved our stay in Casa Pelu The apartment is very comfortable with every facility that we needed there. The bed was especially comfortable. There was plenty of room for our family of four. The room sizes were particularly good. Nicu was very helpful and his English was good. The house is so full of character and finished off superbly. The area around Vale is very interesting. We loved Sibiu. There are so many things to see and experience in the area. We had one meal prepared by a local villager and it was wonderful. I would love to return for at least a couple of weeks in the future but Australia is a long way away. Hopefully I shall be able to. It is on my must do list. Regards, David Ryan |

Relaxing holiday in a perfect and comfortable house. We've really enjoyed our stay in Villa Zollo. The house is foreseen of all comfort and the bedrooms are really big and equipped with a perfect bed. Each morning we enjoyed our breakfast on the terras and we were allways amazed with the view and how quiet it was compared with a village in Belgium. The house exceeded our expectations! So Werner and Nicu keep up the good work and I'm sure that all visitors will have the same experience as we had. |

A beautiful house in a beautiful landscape with the best service we ever had. First we had a very friendly welcome at the train station, where the host picked us up and drove us to a shop and a market place, where we could buy some food. Afterwards we arrived in the very huge, clean and beautiful holiday house Casa Zollo, embedded between soft hills. The well chosen furniture and fixture created a comfortable and homely feeling and we enjoyed the big garden and the balcony's. The service left no wishes open. Spices and maps were already there, moreover we had the possibility to order regional products which the owners brought to the house. Besides the locals didn’t skimp on good ideas and tips for trips and interesting places. In the closer environment we found many different cultural and natural sights. We enjoyed our whole stay especially the long walks through the breath-taking landscape, the perfect service and the uncomplicated and very friendly owners. We will come back! Fabulous property From my first contact with Werner he was always incredibly helpful and was there to guide us to the house after we arrived into Vale following a rather long and trying road trip from Maramures in far northern Romania. The house is exactly as specified on the website but appeared even larger, if that's possible. There is private parking, behind large wooden gates which is ideal, unless of course you have rented, by mistake, a ridiculously large car as we did, but I still managed to negotiate it into place with help. As check-in is 1800 ordering food for that night is probably a good idea, just be aware that the portions are enormous and I ordered far too much for 2 adults and a child. The house was spotless and, for anyone used to renting properties, this is such a bonus and unfortunately quite unusual. The layout of the 3 rental properties is based around a central courtyard and Villa Crina's sitting room windows back onto the courtyard. For the other 2 houses this is their only outside space so it's a good idea to come downstairs fully dressed otherwise the neighbours could get quite a shock! The location is prefect, barely 10 minutes drive to the main motorway which takes you to Sibiu in under half an hour. Fabulous scenery in a totally unspoilt area. The local swimming pool is well worth a visit and our little boy loved it. If you are thinking of coming to Romania, do not hesitate, it's a fabulous country and you will always feel welcome. There is so much to see and do around Vale, don't hesitate to book this house, you will not be disappointed. |

Great getaway to countryside! Casa Nicu is a cozy upper-story cottage with everything we needed available. The village is set at the base of the mountains, and we were able to hike up the valley to the sculpture park, as well as walk to neighboring villages. Nicu is very hospitable and made us feel at home. Werner picked us up at our hotel and delivered us to the train station in Sibiu right on time. We enjoyed the delicious home cooked dinners that we ordered and they were delivered on time and hot each night. The cottage had beautiful woodwork throughout. The lovely garden was draped with honeysuckle vines and had a sheltered picnic table. We are on a five month trip and after seeing the sights of the cities for six weeks Casa Nicu was a good place to relax away from the city. Although we enjoy walking, with a car you could explore more of the surrounding villages as well as Sibiu. We met some very nice people and had a wonderful time in the countryside. Highly recommend! Excellent, rural, tranquil and great hosts We had a wonderful time at Casa Nicu. It's an old farmhouse which has a kitchen/lounge, bedroom and bathroom. We were well looked after by the hosts during our stay and there's the option to purchase some yummy home cooked Romanian food. The village is very quiet and like stepping back in time - you may see the odd horse go past the window. Hire car is essential, Sibiu isn't too far away and there's a motorway now nearby. Restaurants are a couple of miles away, but they are good and cheap. Ask for recommendations. Allow plenty of time if you're coming from Bucharest as Google's estimates are too short for the time to allow if you're not on motorway. Also bring a torch if you're walking round the village at night as it gets properly dark (good stargazing)! Wifi was present, but not that strong - we just about managed to get by. There are a few properties all bordering the same secure courtyard, so it would be great for extended families booking multiple properties. Highly recommended. (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor.co.uk) |

Fantastic holiday in an extremely well appointed house We were 3 adults and stayed in Casa Crina for 5 nights. The house was immaculately clean and had everything we could possibly need - including an excellent outside grill for when we wanted to eat in. Vale is a genuine Romanian experience, away from tourists and homogenised Western culture. We loved the whole experience of going to the village shop and talking to the locals. Be aware that this is a rustic village, and the road to the accommodation is accordingly rustic (all part of the experience!) The countryside here is beautiful and the people are genuinely friendly and happy. One disappointment to us was that the Transfagarasan Highway was not yet open, but we did expect that this would be so. However, the drive along the Transalpina to Sugatag was fantastic. |

Great place for a family vacation. Villa Zollo contains just enough rooms for everyone and is well equipped. It is renovated and looks great. The kitchen contains everything needed for cooking including some seasoning. It looks like thought was given for every tiny detail (e.g. there were also some toys for the kids). One of the best vacation houses we've stayed in. Villa Zollo is very comfortable and in great shape. There is plenty of space for a large group with three bedrooms, outside sitting areas and two balconies. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious (a plus for people who like to cook). The grill is also quite nice, and there is a large table around the grill in the back garden. For those who don't like to cook (or if you just want to take a break for a few nights), one big advantage of this house is that the neighbour (who is the caretaker) will cook for you. Both meals we ordered were excellent. It's a great way to experience authentic Romanian cuisine. Although Vale is quite a small village and you really feel like you're out in the country, the house is just ten minutes away from Saliste (which has a nice market on Mondays, though you can get basic fruits and vegetables there everyday) and Sibiu is an easy short trip if you're looking for something more urban. Heading up into the mountains there are plenty of great places to drive and go hiking. The house had several guidebooks and hiking maps. (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor.com) |

Gorgeous house in idyllic setting. We were 2 families with young children sharing the four-bedroom Casa Crina for a week. What a marvelous stay! This area of Romania has so much lovely scenery and character, and for a group who has seen some of the world (Africa, Asia, Europe), we were all happy to discover someplace truly new. The children had lots of space to play, and the barbecue and kitchen areas were well equipped. Beds were comfortable and rooms spacious. The porch was our "hub" and where we also enjoyed some local cuisine, cooked to order by Adriana. Nearby Saliste has a very good market every Monday, and the area has lots of trails for walks - including to a hidden swimming pool! Highly recommended, and we want to return. |

We rented the studio portion of Casa Zollo in Vale, Romania in late June. It was awesome. Werner made it very easy to set everything up and provided excellent directions to the house. The house is a secure new structure of very high craftsmanship. The appliances and bedding were all new and performed perfectly. There is a great patio, a beautiful garden, a sort of gazebo with fireplace, a fire pit and the fire wood is included. Adriana is the caretaker and she was perfect – there if we needed anything, otherwise, discreetly absent. Vale is a great place for wandering or as a jumping off point for several National Parks and the Transfagarasan and Transalpina highways. I highly recommend this facility. We had a great time. I stayed in Casa Pelu with my teenager just before Easter 2014 and had a wonderful stay. The caretaker Nicu is very helpful and friendly, as were all the lovely people we met during our stay in the country. The house is very clean, warm and comfortable and is located in a beautiful little village at the foot of a mountain surrounded by forests. We loved the wood burning stove and the little cat that would visit in the mornings. We rented a car and visited the nearby villages. They were very quiet and peaceful as we were there pre holiday season. Sibiu is just a few minutes away and has everything you could need. If like us you only speak English, be sure to bring a phrase book and learn some Romanian as it can be difficult to find English speakers in the rural areas. Internet is unreliable but we didn't mind as it is a relief to escape technology once in a while. We hope to return again in the not so distant future. Thanks also to Werner who was always prompt and helpful when answering our questions via email before we arrived. (★★★★★ on Tripadvisor.com) |

Dear Werner, we arrived back in New Zealand from our holiday that commenced in Romania. Alethia and I just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed staying at Casa Zollo. Sitting on the hill surrounded by farm land and with views across to Saliste. Your holiday house is a home away from home. The three spacious bedrooms allowed us - the Lellmans, the Wilkinsons and the Pinkney’s - to have a room that they could relax in apart from each other and a fine kitchen dining area to gather together to discuss our sight-seeing trips and prepare and eat meals. The balconies allowed us to enjoy the sunshine, read a book or simply watch the farm workers in the fields. Once we realised that it was a road alongside the Casa, we walked up into the fields and followed the walking tracks up to the top of Vale village and back down through the village. The quaility of workmanship within the construction and fitout of the cottage impressed us all and we would have no hesitation in recommending your holiday home as a place to stay to others who may be considering visiting Romania. Werner, It was a joy to have stayed at Casa Zollo. Sincerely, Barry & Alethia Pinkney, Auckland, New Zealand |

My expectations were high but were surpassed. Casa Zollo in Transylvania was easy to find (we were given clear instructions). It was a completely refurbished holiday house, spotlessly clean, and furnished and equipped to a high standard, situated on the edge of a quiet village with a wide rural outlook. The neighbours were responsible for the cleaning etc and provided meals if required. John, New Zealand |

We had a fabulous time at Casa Nicu We stayed for 7 nights and it was a haven of peace and quiet. The cottage is extremely well equipped; Nicu - the administrator lives next door and is extremely helpful - you must try the local sheep's cheese. In high summer it was cool and comfortable for two people. There's a lot of space so you don't feel as if you're on top of each other. Vale is a very picturesque village in Transylvania, and you're never far away from excellent walking country, or the towns and cities like Sibiu if that's more your thing. I could have sat at the kitchen window for hours watching the world go by - especially the local shepherd and his little flock of sheep, and the horses and carts. We shared the courtyard with a family staying in the holiday house opposite but this was never an issue as we liked to do different things and eat at different types. We ate outside in what we called the 'cubby-hole' most days, and it's sheltered enough to watch the evening thunderstorms in relative safety. We had a really lovely time here, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Romanian cottage. We like to trek and it made a perfect base to come back to each day and relax in. |

Beautiful vacation rental with an amazing garden and a helpful host. Located perfectly to combine residence in a beautiful little village with trips to Sibiu, Alba Iulia, Kelling, lake Orlat etc. - all within an hour driving. The kids loved the donkeys, cows, sheep, and goats passing by our house in the evening. (★★★★★ for Casa Pelu on Tripadvisor.com) |

My family and I just returned from one of the best holidays we have had so far. From the moment we entered Casa Crina we were delighted with every single detail: the house that was our home for almost two weeks, and Werner and Nicu, the people who made us feel at home. You can tell the cottage was built and decorated by people who love what they do: the design and architecture blend so well with its environment, every piece of wood and stone have been so nicely carved. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the common areas are perfect to share with family and friends. I particularly loved the big table in the terrace where we spent hours not only sharing food but stories and lots of laughs. From the youngest of our group 3 y.o. to the eldest 70 y.o, we all had fun. There are so many things to do: I spent hours just looking at the nature around us, we went for walks in the woods, attended the Monday market in Saliste, talked to locals, visited neighborhood towns. I highly recommend this place in Romania to anyone who wishes to disconnect from their routines. Natalia Verand, Canada |

We stayed in Casa Nicu for 5 nights recently and had the most fantastic time. The holiday home is perfect and is very well equipped with everything you need for your stay. It even has a first aid/medicine cabinet. The apartment was immaculately clean and well furnished in traditional style. I have would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone! |
