Casa Nicu The Methuselah among our country cottages has seen 120 years pass by without being overly impressed by the change in systems in Romania and elsewhere. While pimping it to a holiday rental we left the original fabric untouched, and so the breath of the past still blows through the patient walls.

The farmhouse is located in the pastoral village of Vale, right at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, and just around the corner from Sibiu. A good choice for every gourmet who wants to spice up his experience with a dash of Romanian tradition, perfect for soothing stress hormones and the adrenaline of modern civilization, and not least beautifully suited for singles and couples on their holidays in Transylvania.

The farm house living quarters are upstairs. A staircase leads out to the hallway, which was added to the house in the typical local style. Both the shower room (2 sqm) and the eat-in kitchen (14 sqm) are entered through the hallway.

The kitchen is completely equipped for self-catering, with a fridge, gas stove, coffee maker, and espresso machine, as well as a kettle, toaster, spices, a washing machine and more. If you wish to try traditional menus, our cook will serve them fresh to your table.

The bedroom (18 sqm) adjoins the eat-in kitchen. It features a double bed, TV set (Astra Satellite), WiFi internet access, and plants. Three windows open the room facing the village church.

On your arrival, you will find the bed freshly made, and towels, shower gel, and soap are provided.
An extra bed for a third person and a cot for your baby are available.

The interior of the cottage was carefully selected, and the old tiled stove in the kitchen was refurbished. According to the typical local style, it has built-in water pipes in the upper part of the firing chamber, through which (in addition to radiating heat) the radiators are heated in the rooms and in the bathroom. If you are not heating or the fire goes out, a gas boiler will automatically start up.

The enclosed courtyard is a leafy feast for the eyes. Here you can relax on a covered terrace, uncork a bottle of wine or unpack the card game. Or walk up a few steps through the village, with Europe's oldest beech forest ahead and the vast open valley in your back. If you’re longing for wide open spaces, here’s your treat!
